– Updates were received on several areas; the Boundary Road reconstruction, Bell’s Beach drainage project, road dustproofing, a review of the 2017 assessment appeal process and outcome. The assessment appeal fee will be increased from $100 to $200 per property for 2018, which reflects only a portion of the actual cost and is refunded if the appeal is successful.
– Met with a representative of the Ministry of Highways regarding long-term planning related to the Neis Access road.
– Awarded a tender from Pinter & Associates (Prince Albert) for the Phase II Environmental Site Assessments on the Anglin, McPhee and Emma landfill sites.
– Approved employment of Darren Haubrich and Tim Pastuck as part-time landfill attendants.
– Reviewed the Municipal Reserve Policy, the current status and origin of the municipal reserve funds, and approved an allocation of $8,000 for costs related to upgrading of the Sports Court in Greenop Park (Anglin Lake).
– Reviewed an application to merge two lots on Spruce Point, and subsequently subdivide the area into three lots (net gain of one lot). A public hearing related to this request and an amendment to allow for the use of shipping containers in the Institutional Camp District; Bylaw 17-2013, Section 4.13.15(1) will be held at the District Council Meeting on Monday, October 16.
– Reviewed ratepayer concerns related to dead trees, garbage, roads and gravel, speeding activities on the lakes, skunks and beavers, drainage, tax assessment, vandalism and thefts, water appearance, docks and municipal reserves.
