About Us
The Planning and Development Department is responsible for building projects being completed in the District. Building projects include, but are not limited to dwellings, garages, sheds, gazebos, canopy garages, fences and retaining walls. We are responsible for ensuring projects meet the Building Bylaw and Zoning Bylaw; this includes having ratepayers apply for, remit the correct paperwork and payment for their project. Our goal is to assist ratepayers in a positive manner by providing concise information.

We work closely with the District’s Building Inspector to ensure structures meet the National Building Code and other codes as required.
We also work with Enforcement and Protective Services when required for compliance with bylaws.
Permits, for the most part, need to be picked up in person. It is possible to have someone pick up your permits. Please bear in mind they are signing your ‘list of work conditions’ that you and your contractor are obligated to adhere to.
To avoid unnecessary waiting times, please call (306) 982-2010 to book an appointment with the Development Officer.
