Transfer Station Information

For the winter (November 1st to April 30th), the Transfer Station is located at the Public Works shop on Landfill Road, off Hwy #263, Southwest of Sunnyside Beach. The hours may change during emergency scenarios such as windstorms. If you are unsure, please call the office to confirm hours. The Transfer Station will be closed on the following Statutory Holidays: New Year’s Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.

Costs & Waste Limitations

The transfer station only accepts loads of level half-ton truck size for a cost of $10. No charge for District of Lakeland ratepayers. A heaping half-ton or larger load may be denied or the charge doubled.

The transfer station requires sorted waste. When you arrive, have your waste sorted by:

• Household Waste (food waste)
• Misc. Waste (non-food waste, small renovation project waste)
• Metal
• Compost (grass clippings)
• Brush Pile (trees, branches, logs, stumps)
• Recycle

All refuse will be required to be sorted into the various bins provided for metal, household, recycling, and small renovation project refuse. ALL demolition material must be hauled to the Prince Albert Landfill, as the transfer station does not have the capacity to accept this much material at once.

There is no charge for compostable materials hauled to the transfer station, but it must be removed from any containers that it was hauled in and dumped on the composting pile. The brush pile (trees, branches, logs, stumps) is no charge.

Used oil/ used tires/ propane tanks

Stoves/ washers/ dryers/ de-commissioned refrigerators, freezers & air conditioners for a fee (freon removed)

– All deposit beverage containers (cans/ tins/ plastics/ juice boxes/ wine bottles etc)

– Old TV’s/ computers/ monitors/ printers www.sweepit.ca
